What to Expect with Dental Implants

1

Your Consultation Visit

The first step of the dental implant procedure is to visit our office for a consultation appointment with Dr. Wiltz and Dr. Shane Stevenson. During the consultation, we will thoroughly examine your unique dental arch and develop an implant treatment plan that is specific and particular to your unique oral features. Dr. Wiltz and Dr. Stevenson will also discuss your smile goals during the consultation, including what you can expect regarding your new smile. We will also outline any pre-implant procedures that must be carried out before your dental implant procedure, including bone grafting or tooth extractions.

2

The Day of Your Implant Procedure

Contrary to what most patients believe, a dental implant procedure is fast, simple, and virtually pain-free thanks to advanced sedation options in use at our practice. On the day of your procedure, Dr. Stevenson will strategically place four or more titanium implant posts in your jawbone, supporting your new replacement teeth and serving as a prosthetic tooth root. The entire procedure typically takes just a few hours, after which Dr. Wiltz will place your temporary new set of teeth, which provide a full range of functionality during the forthcoming months of healing and osseointegration.

3

Placement of the Final Restoration

On average, it takes roughly 3-6 months for bone in the jaw to heal and permanently fuse with the titanium implant post(s). During this time, your temporary teeth will provide complete aesthetics and functionality so you can eat, chew, and brush normally. Once healing is complete and the bone fully fuses with the implants, Dr. Wiltz will schedule an appointment to place your final restoration teeth made from a stunning ceramic material.

The magnificent, layered zirconia of the final restorations delivers both long-lasting durability and a breathtaking, celebrity-like aesthetic. After the final restoration is placed, you will enjoy decades of gorgeous smiles and almost maintenance-free functionality aside from routine brushing and flossing.
